Ce petit crocus d'automne, dont les stigmates fournissent le Safran, a traversé les siècles grâce à ses vertus médicinales et à son pouvoir tinctorial. Puis s’en suivront l’épluchage des fleurs à la main, le séchage des précieux pistils et leur transformation en or rouge . 150 000 fleurs sont nécessaires pour obtenir 1 kilo de safran sec !
